Nature’s Wisdom: Interdependence

interdependence-minAfter writing about Possibilities last week, (click this link to see that article Nature’s Wisdom: Possibilities ) this week I’m tackling interdependence.  This is a word that I have been hearing more and more about in the last year. It’s surfacing in all areas of our lives, business, science, relationship and that is just to name a few.

IMG_2134As I learn to receive from the Universe and allow myself to trust that all things come when they are suppose to and not when we want them to. I come across this word over and over again in my life.  So, as always, I turn to Nature to receive her wisdom on this matter.

Interdependence is ever present in Nature and it lives and breathes harmony, generosity, unity and diversity. Everything that sings to my heart and Soul, as a woman.

The interdependence in Nature is based on sequential events but also on the complete acceptance of each organism being present in all that it is.  Having each organism be present in who it is, what it is and how it is, is the key to Nature’s interdependence.  If the river tries to be a tree or the ant tries to be a fish, no interdependence would ever be possible.

Nature’s Wisdom shows us that interdependence is about self trust, boundaries, acceptance, surrender and patience but none of these would be possible without courage, honesty, serenity, support and forgiveness.

What does this look like in Nature?

Interdependence is achieved in Nature because each organism is set in its own boundaries of being themselves. Trusting the other to be themselves as well, in the order, progression and sequence that it needs to happen. The river thaws when it surrenders itself to receive the warmth of the sun. It remains a river but it’s interdependence to the sun and earth’s cycle allows it to thaw in the Spring.  Each progression of event must happen in the right order to affect the other organism. The more the earth tilts towards the sun, the more we see the thaw happening. It is still very gradual and sequential. Nothing takes place out of order. The serenity of Nature always stays intact.

Nature reminds us how to be in a state of interdependence. Even when the river would love to be flowing and completely thawed, it cannot push its progress faster because the interdependence makes everything fall exactly as it must.  Interdependence is based in acceptance and patience. The courage that is required to wait for everything to fall into place as it is suppose to, is demonstrated everyday in Nature. The small animals struggle to survive because they have no water. The new growth suffers under the water that has left the river bed. All the organisms must be patient and courageous to live in this harmonious interdependency.

For Nature to thrive there needs to be a reciprocal interdependency. Meaning, that once the river has started to thaw, other movement is created that sets interdependency in motion among other organisms in Nature.  The thawing of the river brings out some of the animals that have been hiding or hibernating. The seeds of plants that were in the water get carried down to other parts of the forest so that they can thrive and grow. The movement created from the thaw allows shifts in the wildlife around the river. The interdependency is comprehensive in Nature. It creates a chain of events that we get to witness with time, through the various seasons. There is complete serenity and acceptance for each and every cycle taking place. This leads to lack of resentment (forgiveness) between the organisms. When there is acceptance and serenity, there is no room for resentment.

Like Nature, we are interdependent beings and when we learn to be ourselves and live the life that we are meant to live, things, people, events, situations are created that produce this interdependency that is necessary in a life of collaboration, growth, cooperation and unity. This interdependency brings harmony, generosity, unity and diversity that creates a life of clarity filled with energy and gratitude. Raise your hand if this sounds great! (Raising my hand here)
