Security vs. Freedom

As we listen to the news and watch people, we realize how much people like to live a safe and secure existence.  When we start to pay attention to every message we get from our surroundings, we start to notice how much of our lives are ruled by fear.  The choices we make are no longer based on the Freedom to be ourselves; our choices rest mostly with the Security that it will provide to us.

Security at all cost.  We don’t stop to verify the information; we hand over our trust, our questioning, and our own truth to ‘others’ that we feel know better.  How can somebody outside ourselves know what is better for us.

Security is the road that others will choose for us, the decision that others choose so that we can stand by and sit out our life in safety.  Look around and see how often we choose the easy way in order to avoid problems, confrontations and judgment, from others and sometimes from ourselves.  When was the last time we stood by our opinion regardless of what others said, thought or did?  How often do we really choose to do, say or act in a direct connection with our Being?

Security is usually an easier road as it involves very little risk taking but it is what keeps us in our prisons and in our safe haven.

Freedom to be our SELF is not the easy way out.  It takes courage, audacity, persistence, determination, a decision and a commitment to be ourselves.  It is inevitable that the choice of living our Freedom requires that we surpass ourselves constantly.  This involves great risk.  There is no Living without risk.  The alternative means not living at all, only existing.

Living is the hard part.  Living means choosing something that brings us to life.   It doesn’t mean we have to quit our job, our relationship etc.  .  Ok things are not going great!  So what are we doing about it?  Are we at least trying to make a change or are we waiting for IT to change… the solutions are inside the problem.  We are the ones that are not happy in the situation, so We need to change it.

Fear will make us back away from our dreams so that the finish line looks farther and farther away, so that we have to make up for what has been lost.  Freedom is the courage to look fear in the face and surpass it.  It is a choice we make every minute.  It’s the capacity to choose to embrace change.   Real change, Change in ourselves, change in who we are.  That is the most difficult.  We usually expect others to make the change but since we are only responsible for our Self, we must take the first step towards what we want our life to be.  Nobody will do it for us.  If we are not worth it, than who is?

We have to invest ourselves in our life, take part in it.  How do we start?

Choose ONE thing, do not try to undertake everything at once.  We forget that we have to learn to stand before we can run.  We have to take it slow and reconnect with OUR dreams.  Once we have decided to move forward, only then can we follow our heart and act accordingly.  Safety will make us choose with our head so that we stay with what is safe, known, and secure.  Freedom will make us choose with our heart so that we can follow our True Desire.  If we make a mental picture of somebody leading with their heart, we can see that they are centered as the heart is central to the body but if we lead with our head, we start to tip over and it doesn’t take long to be off balance.  We end up with our head tilting over our entire body.  So how can following our head be a great idea if it puts us off balance?

The choices we make must bring forth liberation not fear, shame and humiliation.  When we make a choice we have to separate ourselves from the outcome and allow our desire to define itself.  The result must not be the reason for the choice.  We all have situations that require us to choose because of various reasons but if security is at the base of everything than maybe we are not living our life in agreement with our heart.  Being able to make a choice today and when deliberating in the future, we will know in our heart that we made the right choice with the information that we had at the time, will help us be free of guilt and shame.

Freedom is the capacity to dream up possibilities and then with courage, determination, perseverance and resilience, make a decision that will turn them into Realities.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely…

I leave you with some great quotes:
